<em><span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">I really hate when my kids go back to school! It means summer is over, it means getting back on a schedule, it means they are gone all day. This year though I have had one leave home to go to college, so one less coming home. I love when my kids are home for the summer. When school starts, I also always feel I need to get back to things I let slide to have more time with them. I am going to try to use my crock pot more to save some of my time. I have been experimenting with recipes and this has been fun.</span></em></div>

<em><span style="font-family: Times;">I want to post that I tried a couple more recipes on my Pinterest. </span></em></div>
<div align="center">
<em><span style="font-family: Times;">Cheddar and herb biscuits<a href="http://forkinit.blogspot.com/2010/09/cheddar-and-herb-biscuits.html" target="_blank">here</a> and BBQ chicken in the crock pot <a href="http://forkinit.blogspot.com/2010/09/crockpot-barbecue-chicken.html" target="_blank">here</a></span></em>.</div>
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div align="center">
<em>Okay I started with the BBQ chicken. I found I didn't have the BBQ sauce I thought I had, so I put chicken broth and then added spice called Kickin Chicken. I cooked them and then decided to try a biscuit with them. The recipe above shows you to make them from scratch, I had some frozen so I used them and baked them and then took them out and brushed the butter mixture on the top. Again I didn't have garlic powder. So instead of using powder and salt I just used garlic salt. Then I also added a sprinkle of colby jack cheese. Both recipes were very good. I would make them again. I need to make more recipes in my crock pot. I went out and bought a cookbook. Let's see what I come up with.</em></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em><span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">It makes a perfect size batch. Everyone can have some and there is not a bunch left over. It is very easy and quick. Check out the recipe over on my board on Pinterest titled "Recipes I have tried and what I think of them". I did use 15 marshmallows instead of 10 and when melting the marshmallows in the microwave I did 25 seconds and stirred and then did 25 seconds again and that seemed to be the magic amount of time for me. Very good! I might try adding a touch of vanilla. It is worth your time and effort.</span></em></div>

<em><span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">This is a healthier Banana Bread.</span></em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em><span style="font-family: Times; font-size: large;">Another great recipe. You use honey and applesauce instead of oil and sugar. You also use whole wheat flour instead of white. First off it baked evenly. For some reason my ordinary banana bread seams to have to bake longer than an hour and then the outside is darker than I prefer. This calls for an hour, but I did 50 minutes and it came out great. It has a great flavor. The wheat flour is a strong taste. I think I would try like a half a cup to 1 cup of white flour instead of 2 cups of whole wheat. Try it the way the recipe says and see how you like it. It is very good. Mine did not puff up as much as the picture that came with the recipe. Picture from recipe below.</span></em></div>

<em><span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">You must leave a comment after this post to be in this drawing. If you signed up for other give aways, that is terrific, but you have to sign up again if you want to be included in this one. All are welcome!!!!!! Friends, family, people I don't know. International people are welcome to. I count the comments and then go to the random number selector and it chooses. I don't vary from it, to pick someone I want. Now remember one thing, please. In my last drawing I see that one of my Anonymous posters didn't include who they were. You can go way of anonymous, but then leave a name. They just said they were in. I have no idea who they are and if the number selector would have picked them I would have had to skip them because there would have been no way for me to contact them. Just keep in mind when you leave a comment.</span></em></div>

I used snaps on the above top, but am going to try one with hook and loop tape, to see how it goes.</span></em></div>Juliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06957586983229844876noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4503686943203191871.post-108488317500161122012-07-03T17:05:00.000-04:002012-07-03T17:05:31.220-04:00Les Cheries Doll Eye Lid fix<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em><span style="font-size: large;">Well, I finished up painting the eye lids. It was pretty easy. I put the one I am working on (no top) next to the one that is mine. I think I did very well. It does show up a little more when you are right here to look, but it is very good. I bought two colors of paint and to very small brushes. I would use the finest one you can find, then I would have been able to paint the eye lid out closer to the edges without touching the vinyl doll. The lighter color of the two pictured below, of paint worked great. When it dried it dried a little bit darker than when putting it on and that worked perfect. I have never repaired a doll before that the paint was scratched of the eye lids, but I did really well. </span></em></div>

<em><span style="font-size: large;">Well, lets start July off with a Bang! I purchased four of these keepers. That is what they were called, but they are very small. They look like they would fit a ball of yarn, you could use them to keep your yarn from tangling from other stuff in your knitting or crochet bag, you could give it to a little girl for a tiny purse, or put make up in, or whatever you wish. They are by the company </span></em></div>

<em><span style="font-size: large;">Chic-a. I have a bag from them and love it. Okay so I am filling each one with surprise things, this one has notions for knitting or crocheting. Just leave a comment so I can contact you if you are the winner. I will use the random number selector to choose on July 7th and then on the 8th I will put up another. International people are welcome. Okay I must have one requirement, you must be signed up to my blog. I will check and if you are not then I will select another.</span></em></div>

The postal lady was putting packages in our garage at the steps and we had the door open so it was just the screen door there and she said the cat put his feet up so he was looking out the door, like to see what the sound was and he took one look at her and this hissing was on. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em><span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">Let's work on her hair. This is my hair supply box. I have kinda collected many items that I use and just found a plastic box to keep them in.</span></em></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6gAnBQKEVdqpSP7xSvP2MxE3EKPRpzyR3nZD-IgkY9LqlpHL1zULYZGZeGOnusnvOOI76r4rMLMzTR3MGIVCegJs9_pD7DRLrHW9vzuX8FjYnVuq5uvIgCH04IRYzyAuY0gaJSP8Cq1Q/s1600/023.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="319" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6gAnBQKEVdqpSP7xSvP2MxE3EKPRpzyR3nZD-IgkY9LqlpHL1zULYZGZeGOnusnvOOI76r4rMLMzTR3MGIVCegJs9_pD7DRLrHW9vzuX8FjYnVuq5uvIgCH04IRYzyAuY0gaJSP8Cq1Q/s320/023.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em><span style="font-size: large;">I used the foam curlers. I should have used the little papers you use to roll up hair, it prevents the ends from getting frizzy and makes it much easier to roll up. I did it this way because I was going to put a little flip to the ends. The Les Cheries hair is very easy to play with. If your dolls hair is clean, then just wet it down, I use a little spray bottle with water. Then use the curling method and leave it to dry. Then if you want the curls out because you want a new style or you don't like what you did, just wet it down again.</span></em></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRf1yP94ei1hCr-8nABWRcdnjDJ6VibKr9DbHjtLOncSfnG14_F34MR33btV4tXgdtjGh2qkwAH74mUE2Spx5Dx8LBiNrdh2kyHkQ_qtwJ_sGpPhqZRUF2AC8RNp-RNtrKGCXEkHMc6BA/s1600/025.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRf1yP94ei1hCr-8nABWRcdnjDJ6VibKr9DbHjtLOncSfnG14_F34MR33btV4tXgdtjGh2qkwAH74mUE2Spx5Dx8LBiNrdh2kyHkQ_qtwJ_sGpPhqZRUF2AC8RNp-RNtrKGCXEkHMc6BA/s320/025.JPG" width="271" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em><span style="font-size: large;">Okay below is a picture of some of my items. The foam curlers are very inexpensive. You can find the papers in the store right by the hair curlers. I also have strips of fabric, those work very well to get a very tight curl.</span></em></div>

<em><span style="font-size: large;">Tah-dah! Now she looks like a new girl. I do still have a touch up to the eye lids. I am going to try to find a matching paint. I can't think of why that would happen?</span></em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em><span style="font-size: large;">Isn't she looking wonderful? I will give the eye lids a try and then I am going onto knitting an outfit and then sew an outfit, so stay tuned.</span></em></div>

<em><span style="font-size: large;">I have had an occasion when even the magic eraser did not work. I think use a little dab of Clearasil. Yes, pimple cream with 10% Benzoyl Peroxide. You put a dab on the spot and set it under a lamp that gives off heat for 1/2 hour to 1 hour and then take the lamp off and let the doll sit with the cream on over night. This has worked for me. My daughter had a cheap desk lamp that really gives off the heat and it works terrific. If it lightens, but doesn't take away, try it again.</span></em></div>

<em><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: large;">I really enjoy several things, one of which is dolls. I found the challenge of taking a doll in need and helping her come back to her beauty is fun. I have found dolls on ebay that have problems and sell cheap, then trying to fix them up. I have done several American Girl dolls- Bitty Baby and Bitty twins. I have read as much as I can for each problem each doll has. I decided to share so maybe someone else would like to do one of their own. Maybe you would like to add to your collection, but don't have the money to buy new. I just purchased a Corolle 2001 doll called Les Cheries. I purchased her for (6.99 for doll and 8.99 shipping) 15.98 and that includes shipping. Now once you see all that is wrong with her you may feel it is to much.</span></em></div>

On the inside of the front cover it categorize the cast ons and on the back cover is the cast offs. Some of the categories are super stretchy, all purpose, decorative and more. Same goes for the cast offs. It gives you a page. I checked out the stretchy one because recently I watched a you tube video on just that. It was recommended by a fellow Ravelry friend. It is the same in the book. The book is spiral bound, I do love that. The pages are thick and there is many pictures and directions for each cast on and cast offs. It is just such a wonderful resource. It is definitely worth checking out. The price is excellent to. Now that I see the book, don't tell, but I would have paid more for it.</em></span></div>Juliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06957586983229844876noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4503686943203191871.post-37092091720253771452012-06-20T13:17:00.002-04:002012-06-23T22:22:53.636-04:00Homemade Shaving Cream<div align="center">
<em><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">Okay yesterday, I tried the handmade lotion, today I am going to tell you about handmade shave cream, from the same </span><a href="http://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2012/05/make-your-own-moisturizing-shave-cream.html" target="_blank"><span style="font-size: large;">website.</span></a><span style="font-size: large;"> I tried it a while ago and have not been happy with it, until today!</span></span></em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhH0abpcxbSqLJqlcng4jOYiGAWsNjq5pESYrYAYUaUJtTlXAfTD7aX8WPdvxFpDW5aXxgBPv_I0yyqPhpjF_W6pLfk99jyn_SuViBrRbHqHCZZaHjqXYXlGnmRA8QeZMscOkfUKachAc8/s1600/004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="271" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhH0abpcxbSqLJqlcng4jOYiGAWsNjq5pESYrYAYUaUJtTlXAfTD7aX8WPdvxFpDW5aXxgBPv_I0yyqPhpjF_W6pLfk99jyn_SuViBrRbHqHCZZaHjqXYXlGnmRA8QeZMscOkfUKachAc8/s320/004.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">As you can see it was very thin and runny. I followed the recipe as she had it.</span></em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: large;">1 cup shampoo (Sauve naturals coconut-it smells yummy)</span></em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: large;">1 cup conditioner (I used the companion to the shampoo)</span></em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: large;">5 Tablespoons of lotion (she used the homemade)</span></em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: large;">5 Tablespoons of coconut oil solid</span></em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: large;">That is what gave me the runny version above. I seemed to use so much to get my legs shaved, that I don't think I saved anything over the shave gel I usually used. Okay, but one big difference, it did leave my legs feeling soft without having to apply lotion after shaving. So I really liked that and didn't give up on this. If you like it very thin then this recipe is perfect for you, as is.</span></em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6ufZjFJV4Y2CoC-fNw8VharTifukgsH7xB4409S0wtsNcJbjQedlQqjQBscokTgpdTNAKNiDD6lUHXgOM6YQP_fgrGrfkicteal-H9ZNuOOaijFnbotWKyk6CW0Mrvt-xRarHg8IPNzY/s1600/007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="299" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6ufZjFJV4Y2CoC-fNw8VharTifukgsH7xB4409S0wtsNcJbjQedlQqjQBscokTgpdTNAKNiDD6lUHXgOM6YQP_fgrGrfkicteal-H9ZNuOOaijFnbotWKyk6CW0Mrvt-xRarHg8IPNzY/s320/007.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: large;">I tried using a different lotion, I tried not warming the coconut oil, but neither worked. This morning I was shaving and was thinking about this. I remembered that on one of my trips away from home I didn't have hand lotion and my hand were very dry, so I put a little hair conditioner on them and it worked. I used to put a dime size puddle in my hand to run through my girls long hair when they got out of the bath tub, when they were little. This acted like a dangler, without having to purchase something extra. Only use a little bit or it will make their hair look oily. So I thought how about if next time I use less shampoo and more conditioner. The Sauve was only 1.79 at my local grocery store, so not a big amount. I do have a lot mixed up already and don't want to waste it, so I decided to just add more conditioner to the current batch and that thickened it right up. So I will be able to use up the current batch. This morning in the shower I dabbled with the amount of conditioner to the amount of shampoo, just for testing and shaved and it worked okay. I do think the lotion and oil adds to the reason my legs are not dry after shaving with the cream.</span></em></div>

<em><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">I just love Pinterest! I had found a website that I tried the handmade hand scrub, that I have made and tested and posted earlier and love it! So I tried another recipe. This time handmade lotion. <a href="http://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2012/02/make-your-own-simple-moisturizing.html" target="_blank">Here is the link</a> to the page on her website. Okay above is the ingredients I found to use. Johnson and Johnson Baby lotion, which you could use a no name brand, but I had this one already. The vitamin e cream I found at Walgreen's and you can get it on Amazon, not cheap, but couldn't find any other right now. The Coconut Oil Solid. You can find that at grocery stores and on Amazon. The smell is terrific with all the ingredients mixed together.</span></em></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiShhp6jGDcds_K2jQjUyZ3fuqD_tmE5ftB_B1PMx3zmz9u8Ry-i3JYpCneu-Q53gBymDzKs8EqTyZxYFj6nm5bBFSmFYVBZBJTG1BaLdIYnlVGG93AOnc4OtW0j9sRBfV0uUi2OoRcB-A/s1600/004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiShhp6jGDcds_K2jQjUyZ3fuqD_tmE5ftB_B1PMx3zmz9u8Ry-i3JYpCneu-Q53gBymDzKs8EqTyZxYFj6nm5bBFSmFYVBZBJTG1BaLdIYnlVGG93AOnc4OtW0j9sRBfV0uUi2OoRcB-A/s320/004.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">It does mix up like frosting. Okay my opinion is it is to greasy. It does leave your hands very soft, but it has that shine to my hands, it does go away just like some lotions I have tried. Again it does leave you hands very soft. I have put it on my feet because they always seem dry and I put socks on. I will be honest and say for me I will probably not make anymore, just keep using my Aveeno that I do love.</span></em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<em><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;">I have been so busy with my daughters graduation party, fixin up the house, preparing for my daughter leaving in the fall and my youngest daughters drivers ed. I have not been on in a while to make a post, so I decided to have another giveaway. It is red, white and blue yarn in Brava. It is sports weight. </span></em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: large;">I bought some of this yarn a while back. I received it and thought it was soft, but not this super soft that I seen on a you tube video, that was a review of the yarn. Then I decided to use it for a project. I fell in love with the yarn. It knits up beautifully and is soft knit up. I really am sold on this yarn. The price is terrific to. So I decided to give this group of 3 colors of red, white and blue. This will give one of you a chance to try and maybe make something for the 4th.</span></em></div>
