I Hate when My Kids go Back to School

I really hate when my kids go back to school!  It means summer is over, it means getting back on a schedule, it means they are gone all day.  This year though I have had one leave home to go to college, so one less coming home.  I love when my kids are home for the summer.  When school starts, I also always feel I need to get back to things I let slide to have more time with them.  I am going to try to use my crock pot more to save some of my time.  I have been experimenting with recipes and this has been fun.
I picked up an extra crock pot cook book to give away.
So all you have to do is leave a comment below this post and next Tuesday, Sept. 11th I will use the random number selector to choose a lucky person and announce the winner.

  1. I love my crock pot too. It's such a time saver when I have to rush off to volleyball games and karate, plus do a load of laundry and help with homework. Here's to settling into fall

  3. Julie, you will love using your slow cooker. I use mine once or twice a week and I love it. Add a salad and dinner is done! :-) Enjoy! Nicky momoffour

  4. I've come across a couple of Crock Pot recipes lately and decided, too, that I need to make the effort to use it more. It's nice to have it already going and not have to think/worry about what's for dinner.

  5. We all should share our favorite receipe in the crock pot. My husband is a hunter and every year gets venison. He loves me take the chops and cooking them in this mixture and then we have it for dinner with rice and then he loves the left overs in sandwiches for work.
I don't measure anything so I am putting aprox for the amounts.
3-5 cups of water (I put in enough to come up to the level of chops, my chops are frozen when I put them in)
    6 bullion cubes -chicken flavor
    1 tsp of ginger
    2 tblsp of minced garlic
1 tsp of oil (I just tip the oil over and back up so it is a dab) Do you like my receipe terms?
    the venison of course
you can add onions, but he doesn't like them
    1/3-1/2 c soy sauce
then let it cook all day.
