Boating at Torch Lake
Beautiful and Hot day, so my Hubby took off work and we took the boat to Torch Lake for the day. Mindy wasn't able to join us, cause she had to work.

Getting ready to jump in. Torch Lake is really beautiful the water is so clear and a blue green color. It looks like the Caribbean waters. We really love it.

Homemade Shaving Cream
Okay yesterday, I tried the handmade lotion, today I am going to tell you about handmade shave cream, from the same website. I tried it a while ago and have not been happy with it, until today!
As you can see it was very thin and runny. I followed the recipe as she had it.
1 cup shampoo (Sauve naturals coconut-it smells yummy)
1 cup conditioner (I used the companion to the shampoo)
5 Tablespoons of lotion (she used the homemade)
5 Tablespoons of coconut oil solid
That is what gave me the runny version above. I seemed to use so much to get my legs shaved, that I don't think I saved anything over the shave gel I usually used. Okay, but one big difference, it did leave my legs feeling soft without having to apply lotion after shaving. So I really liked that and didn't give up on this. If you like it very thin then this recipe is perfect for you, as is.
I tried using a different lotion, I tried not warming the coconut oil, but neither worked. This morning I was shaving and was thinking about this. I remembered that on one of my trips away from home I didn't have hand lotion and my hand were very dry, so I put a little hair conditioner on them and it worked. I used to put a dime size puddle in my hand to run through my girls long hair when they got out of the bath tub, when they were little. This acted like a dangler, without having to purchase something extra. Only use a little bit or it will make their hair look oily. So I thought how about if next time I use less shampoo and more conditioner. The Sauve was only 1.79 at my local grocery store, so not a big amount. I do have a lot mixed up already and don't want to waste it, so I decided to just add more conditioner to the current batch and that thickened it right up. So I will be able to use up the current batch. This morning in the shower I dabbled with the amount of conditioner to the amount of shampoo, just for testing and shaved and it worked okay. I do think the lotion and oil adds to the reason my legs are not dry after shaving with the cream.
Make your Own Hand lotion
I just love Pinterest! I had found a website that I tried the handmade hand scrub, that I have made and tested and posted earlier and love it! So I tried another recipe. This time handmade lotion. Here is the link to the page on her website. Okay above is the ingredients I found to use. Johnson and Johnson Baby lotion, which you could use a no name brand, but I had this one already. The vitamin e cream I found at Walgreen's and you can get it on Amazon, not cheap, but couldn't find any other right now. The Coconut Oil Solid. You can find that at grocery stores and on Amazon. The smell is terrific with all the ingredients mixed together.
It does mix up like frosting. Okay my opinion is it is to greasy. It does leave your hands very soft, but it has that shine to my hands, it does go away just like some lotions I have tried. Again it does leave you hands very soft. I have put it on my feet because they always seem dry and I put socks on. I will be honest and say for me I will probably not make anymore, just keep using my Aveeno that I do love.
I want to try these different things I see and I will let you know of my results. I am going to try the shave cream next.

I tried these and they are so yummy, Nutter Butter Rice Krispies
This went fast in my home because we are all Nutter Butter cookie lovers. My husband is very against changing a recipe that is good. He complained that I made Rice Crispy treats different, but he tried them and liked them.
I have a theater size popcorn popper, so I love to try popcorn recipes. This recipe is another yummy one, but it is a bit messy, Cake batter popcorn
Okay this is to cut up your salad for all week and then you can just pull out a jar each day and not have to cut up all the items. I did it with lettuce, shredded carrots, cucumbers and the meat. I didn't put the dressing in, that way I could do different ones. I found out that the cucumbers didn't keep as well as everything else in the jar. This is a great idea and keeps me eating healthier. I still use it, but don't add the meat either, so I can change that to. I make like a generic salad and add the meat and dressing. They really stay fresh and don't brown.
this one I made for a card party that we needed to bring a dish. It was so yummy. It went over very well and was all gone when it was time to come home. Cookie dough dip
this recipe I tried today! I left out the chocolate chips at the end, not the ones you melt in. It is a very chocolaty cookie, moist and good. I probably wont make them often, just because they are very chocolaty.
I will play with my Interests with Pintrest
I decided that this week I was going to try some of the things I have pinned on my Pintrest . I would love for any of you to follow me, I will follow you back. On Ravelry there were people who talked about Pintrest. Many said it was such a time consuming thing. I have not found that to this point. I do believe you can spend a lot of time if you check out all the links to the things you pin on your boards. Here is what I have been doing... I go there and go down the things that have been pinned by the people I follow and all pins. I pin the things that interest me. I have gone back when I need to take a dish to pass somewhere and tried a new recipe. Or I may go through my knitting board and pick a post to read. Now if something ends up being something with no information or a dead end I delete it. I am going to put something to identify that I have looked at that post. Like maybe =0) or ~ or *, something to indicate that I have checked it out. Okay for this week I am going to try some of the things I have pinned and then let you know how it goes. This may save you time from trying it or maybe make you interested in it.
This one I tried before and so love it, I just must share with you. It was posted as just like Mary Kay's hand scrub to make your hands silky smooth. Well, I have been using the Mary Kay and thought I would try this. I love it!!!!! I gave some away for Mother's day gifts. My mother in-law thanked me, but I have not heard if she liked it. Still waiting to hear from my mother.
You only need two ingredients, sugar and this Dawn dish soap with Olay. I found two scents, but this one smelled fresh and it was the one they used in the pin on my board. Here is the website that it comes from. This is a hand scrub that also leaves your hands soft. Keeping the word scrub in mind, I found that different brands of sugar have different size granules. The Domino brand has a little larger granule and I really like it. You also can get it at Sam's Club which makes it economical. I don't use my scrub for just my hands. I keep it in the shower and use it on my feet and by spreading it on my feet, sometimes my elbows I am also getting my hands.
You can make any size batch. I don't measure it. Just pour some sugar in a bowl and add some dish soap, stir. You want the consistency of frosting, thick frosting or a soft paste. So if it is to liquidity add more sugar.
That is all there is to it.
Now on the website they have jars, canning jars they put it in and gift it. I gave it as gifts in the jars and it looked pretty, but since have discovered that in the shower I would rather have a plastic container. I think you could make the contain look cute with the right decorations and be able to give it in that container. The person receiving would probably enjoy it that way to.
My container is the small size marshmallow fluff. I have to say I am now looking at the containers that my foods come in a little differently. If you end up making this or other homemade items that seem to be posted on Pintrest, it is something to keep in mind.

The two different colors in my jar is not seperating ingrediants, but that the first batch of the hand scrub had a little bit of what I had left of the Mary Kay hand scrub. I just poured the little bit I had left in so I could use it up. Then when I decided to feature this I put the new mix of the hand scrub on top. It will all get used. I don't want to waste the little bit I had left.
I have been doing my very first test knitting project. I am giving you a little taste of the project above. I have been just tickled to be a test knitter. I have finished up the project today.
Today is also my middle daughters birthday. She turns 18 today and I wanted to tell you about this very special cake. A few years ago I had cake from Sherri Keech, at a wedding. I cannot express enough how wonderful the cake is. I have never tasted anything better. It is a white cake with a raspberry filling. It is very moist and the frosting has a taste that is awesome. Not a sugary, it is soooooo wonderful. I call CakeConnection TC and order this cake for whatever occasion. She does such a beautiful job. For Linny's cake I said she is girly and likes, lace, ruffles and jewelry.

Merry Christmas to everyone
I am terrible sorry I didn't get this post up yesterday, but I ran out of time to spend on the computer and had to run off and share in all the fun with the family.
This gorgeous arrangement was sent to My family from some very special friends. This is so lovely and it looks just beautiful on my kitchen table. It really is my picture taking that needs to improve. So many things to improve and I don't know when I will get them all in. Anyhow, this was a wonderful addition to my home decor and the roses smell wonderful. My Mr. Kitty has been rubbing on the pine and I am surprised I don't have cat hair in the picture. Thank you so much Hilary and Joe!

Yesterday, I decided it was time to do something about my two wreaths. I have faux pine wreaths and have had them for approx. 10 years. I put them up year after year and many of the pieces have come off over the years. I went to Michael's and purchased several floral pieces and two different spools of ribbon. I set to work. The above wreath turned out so sweet. I am sorry that I didn't think to get a picture before I started. So on the second one I did get pictures.

Leatherman Factory Tour
I just had to take these couple of pictures from the Leatherman facebook page. Starting from the left is me, Dan (in yellow shirt), Bobby next to me, Mat, Tim Leatherman, Joe behind him, Bruce upfront, Billy in the cowboy hat and Hilary. If you visit there facebook there is many other pictures of everyone. The group above is everyone from the multitool.org website. I had time to talk with Dan and Bruce on the tour and they are great guys. Everyone all together really made the tour a fun experience. Who would have thought I would have enjoyed it as I did. I think meeting everyone was the best. I have faces to go with names now.
Below is two other Amazing people we got to spend sometime with. My husband told me I would like these two and he was right. They are Hilary and Joe. We were lucky enough to get time to chat, but you know it just seems like there was not enough time with anyone. We were not allowed to have cameras on the tour and I didn't bring mine. I should have so I could have gotten pictures after, but I will just have to steal some of my husbands.

Oregon trip
We recently had a wonderful trip to Oregon. We met some new friends, that came all the way from Australia.
On one day we went to some waterfalls that were amazing. We did a lot of walking that day.
This is a banana slug and they were everywhere. They are huge.
We also went to a fish hatchery for Salmon, trout and sturgeon.
Then onto Mt. Hood. This is the hotel where the Shinning was filmed. They used outside views for the movie. I also heard from two boys in our group that Dumber and Dumber was also filmed here. It is a beautiful hotel is called Timberline Lodge. Right behind it is a beautiful view of Mt. Hood. Our Australian friends got a chance to enjoy snow for the first time.
Yes, as anyone would expect, Boys will be boys. They had themselves some fun with a snowball fight. With my husband having way to much experience with snow, explained to them the different types of snow and this snow was the end of the season snow with lots of water and little pellets of ice. So this type hurts more if you are hit. The girls were smarter and discovered other things at the lodge and mountain. The scenery was beautiful.
Thanks to Jodie we even found a geocache up there!
We had so much fun. We packed a lot into one day. There was much more that went on in this day, just to much to list all here. We did also have one other new friend join us for the day, her name was Jill. Everyone needs to have a Jill join them on any adventure. Sometimes gets a little demanding on telling you where to go, though!!!
The next day we enjoyed a tour of the Leatherman factory and they posted pictures of our visit on their facebook page. We even got to meet Tim Leatherman, what a treat that was.
