Winner of the Yarn!

Hello everyone. I used the random number generator and it chose number 2 and that is Ber. Congratulations!

I do have more plans for giveaways. I have been trying to do one a month, but if I have other excuses I will do more. Maybe an extra one could be when I get to 50 subscribers.

I wanted to tell you all about a new knitting book I have received. I just love it!

First off it is a nice size that would fit rather nicely in a knitting bag to take along. On the inside of the front cover it categorize the cast ons and on the back cover is the cast offs. Some of the categories are super stretchy, all purpose, decorative and more. Same goes for the cast offs. It gives you a page. I checked out the stretchy one because recently I watched a you tube video on just that. It was recommended by a fellow Ravelry friend. It is the same in the book. The book is spiral bound, I do love that. The pages are thick and there is many pictures and directions for each cast on and cast offs. It is just such a wonderful resource. It is definitely worth checking out. The price is excellent to. Now that I see the book, don't tell, but I would have paid more for it.

Homemade Shaving Cream

Okay yesterday, I tried the handmade lotion, today I am going to tell you about handmade shave cream, from the same website. I tried it a while ago and have not been happy with it, until today!

As you can see it was very thin and runny. I followed the recipe as she had it.

1 cup shampoo (Sauve naturals coconut-it smells yummy)

1 cup conditioner (I used the companion to the shampoo)

5 Tablespoons of lotion (she used the homemade)

5 Tablespoons of coconut oil solid

That is what gave me the runny version above. I seemed to use so much to get my legs shaved, that I don't think I saved anything over the shave gel I usually used. Okay, but one big difference, it did leave my legs feeling soft without having to apply lotion after shaving. So I really liked that and didn't give up on this. If you like it very thin then this recipe is perfect for you, as is.

I tried using a different lotion, I tried not warming the coconut oil, but neither worked. This morning I was shaving and was thinking about this. I remembered that on one of my trips away from home I didn't have hand lotion and my hand were very dry, so I put a little hair conditioner on them and it worked. I used to put a dime size puddle in my hand to run through my girls long hair when they got out of the bath tub, when they were little. This acted like a dangler, without having to purchase something extra. Only use a little bit or it will make their hair look oily. So I thought how about if next time I use less shampoo and more conditioner. The Sauve was only 1.79 at my local grocery store, so not a big amount. I do have a lot mixed up already and don't want to waste it, so I decided to just add more conditioner to the current batch and that thickened it right up. So I will be able to use up the current batch. This morning in the shower I dabbled with the amount of conditioner to the amount of shampoo, just for testing and shaved and it worked okay. I do think the lotion and oil adds to the reason my legs are not dry after shaving with the cream.

Make your Own Hand lotion

I just love Pinterest! I had found a website that I tried the handmade hand scrub, that I have made and tested and posted earlier and love it! So I tried another recipe. This time handmade lotion. Here is the link to the page on her website. Okay above is the ingredients I found to use. Johnson and Johnson Baby lotion, which you could use a no name brand, but I had this one already. The vitamin e cream I found at Walgreen's and you can get it on Amazon, not cheap, but couldn't find any other right now. The Coconut Oil Solid. You can find that at grocery stores and on Amazon. The smell is terrific with all the ingredients mixed together.

It does mix up like frosting. Okay my opinion is it is to greasy. It does leave your hands very soft, but it has that shine to my hands, it does go away just like some lotions I have tried. Again it does leave you hands very soft. I have put it on my feet because they always seem dry and I put socks on. I will be honest and say for me I will probably not make anymore, just keep using my Aveeno that I do love.

I want to try these different things I see and I will let you know of my results. I am going to try the shave cream next.

New Pink Bone Folder

I was shopping at Michael's the other day and they have a bunch of new items by Martha Stewart. I love that section. The items I have purchased that are Martha Stewart seem to have a great quality.

This is a bone folder. A bone folder is a handy tool in paper crafting. I use mine for making creases and to run down a fold and it compacts it and makes it lay down nicely. Above is the regular Martha Stewart Bone folder and it works just fine.

I love pink, do you? Here is the new bone folder available.

Isn't it gorgeous. I bought it because it is pink. No big deal for anyone who is not into pink, but I thought I would share. The regular bone folder is 5.99 and the pink is 7.99. They often go on sale, but I had to have it now.

Glue/Adhesive Gun Review

Hello Everyone,

I am glad you could stop by. Today I want to talk about glue guns. Have you been thinking about purchasing one? I have some information to share with you that may help you in your decision. Many of paper crafters and scrapbookers have these type of gadgets to apply adhesive. They work very nicely, but run out of adhesive quickly. The refills come at different costs depending on the type you have and some just are not refillable. The refill for this one featured below is 3.99-4.99 depending on where I purchase it. The small size makes it very easy to use on many projects.

Now below is an ATG Gun 714. I became familiar with these when watching videos from my pink stamper. She has one and absolutely loves it. I did a search and found this to be true from many who work paper crafts. The adhesive is permanent and strong. The paper will rip before there was any chance that the glue would give. It is fun to see how many people have painted their ATG guns. I also did a search around my home town and no one carried them. So I searched the web. The cheapest place to purchase one was at http://www.framingsupplies.com/, their cost is 41.69. Definitely not a cheap item. The refills you can find all over the place at different price ranges. Framing supply has them for 3.49 for a 36 yd roll of acid free tape. I am not sure what shipping costs are there. I found a eBay seller who sells them and good price 4.50 for a 60 yd roll of tape she uses on cards, because it is not acid free, but there is another that is on and off eBay that I purchased from and it was 3.00 something and I got a discount for purchasing more rolls, so I got a whole box. That should last me for a little while. So just look around. The gun is very good quality and it will last you forever.

Now there is another gun call the Glue Glider pro. I found this in an ad in a scrapbooking magazine and looked it up on the web. My best prices to purchase this gun was on http://www.ohmycrafts.com/ and http://www.ritzcamera.com/. Oh My Crafts offers the gun alone 10.99 plus shipping (they are also always having discounts if you sign up for emails). A single refill cartridge is 7.99 each. Or there is like a starter package with the gun and 4 refill cartridges for 24.99 plus shipping. Ritz Camera has a special going on til the end of Sept. and their Pro Glider is 10.35 and shipping, unless you spend $100 dollars and it is then free. There refills are 6.99. So the gun is much cheaper then the ATG, but the cartridges are more expensive. I did find a seller on eBay that starts them at .99 cents, but shipping is 4.95, but you can combine shipping on auctions. That helps.

Let me tell you about this gun. If you look at the pictures below you will see it is so much smaller than the ATG. That feature makes it more attractive. It has cute colors to! Seriously, it works great. There is no button on the handle that you press when done gliding like on the ATG gun, but it is not a problem. If I had this review before purchasing both guns, I would have purchased the Glue Glider Pro, but I have recently found that the ATG tape has the same round plastic base as on the inside of one of the Pro Glider cartridges. I found it very interesting that the ATG tape with the same bas having 36 or my seller said 30 yards of tape and the Glue glider says it has 40 yards, the ATG tape is a larger roll. So I am going to play around with the idea of using some of the ATG rolls and then putting the roll on the inside of the Glider Pro cartridge. Thus giving me the cheaper tape with the Cheaper gun. I will keep you posted how it goes.

Overall, I don't regret any of my purchases. My ATG gun is great works very well, but I do find I use the Glue Glider Pro more often because of its size. The little dispenser I use occasionally, but could probably do without it with the Glue Glider pro. It is very easy to get the adhesive right where you want it. I do hope this will help someone if they are looking into one of these items for purchase.

New Paper Crafting Gadget

New Addition to my paper crafting tool Family. I first had a peek these were coming out by an email from http://www.ohmycrafts.com/ . They were taking pre-orders. Well, I just love bags and I was looking for something I could easily emboss paper for my card making. I didn't want to get out my Epic 6 every time I wanted to emboss something. I will talk about and review the epic 6 in another post. This seemed like the answer for me. It is smaller than the cuttlebug and much lighter. This is from Sizzix. It works perfect. I just love it! It doesn't take up much room and looks very cute sitting in my craft room. Well, I also love the color pink and this only comes in the one color. That seemed to be the only draw back.

So I got brave after seeing that people on the Internet were painting many of their craft items their favorite color. I purchased a pink paint for plastic (Krylon). It was way to light pink and didn't have a different shade available, but of course they had the perfect bubble gum pink color in the regular spray paint. My hubby told me if I coated what ever it was I wanted to paint with the plastic paint, that regular spray paint would adhere to the plastic paint. So I used painters tape and took the time to carefully tape up the bottom and all the black area of the purse that is the purse handle and flap. I took off the handle on the side and taped the opening. Last part I taped is the front and back openings. I didn't want to get paint in there and on the rollers. I sprayed 2 coats of the plastic paint, making sure all parts were covered. Then I did two coats of the regular spray paint. Oh the regular spray paint is a gloss. It did give it a shine. I love it!!! Such a pretty pink. It is not as smooth as the plastic is originally, but it isn't bad. I don't feel those areas anyhow, it is so it looks pretty and that it does.

Yes, you can see the turquoise blue in the opening where you run your pads and embossing folders through, but that is just fine with me. These are $23.99 at Oh My Crafts and they have emails that you can get percentages off and sometimes they have free shipping offers. I had gotten 10% off. You may be able to find them somewhere else for less. I just have had very good customer service through Oh My Crafts.

Don't tell 2 of my daughters, but they are getting these for Christmas. As soon as school starts I am painting them their favorite colors!

I rate this as a great buy for embossing your papers and cute as can be.
